Aceh Post 2024 Local Election : Post-Election Chaos, Shadow Rulers, and the Future of Development in Aceh
The 2024 Aceh Pilkada will be a contest between two heavyweight pairs, each with strong networks and historical legitimacy. Yet in Aceh’s political culture, winning an election is often only the beginning of deeper challenges. From post-victory panic and cabinet bargaining to the entrenched culture of meu’en proyek (project manipulation) and the shadow of Jakarta’s power brokers, governance in Aceh frequently shifts into cycles of conflict and stalled development.
